Milling and Paving of N. Trade Street is now underway. The work will be done at night to minimize impacts on traffic. Over 10,000 vehicles use N. Trade Street daily.
The roadway will be closed from the intersection of John Street to Matthews Mint Hill Road from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night this week. Paving is expected to completed by April 17.

The Matthews Summer Concert & Movie Series will begin on Saturday, May 8, in Stumptown Park with a screening of the movie “Up”. Attendance is free and the series will conclude on July 3 with a concert by Too Much Sylvia. The series includes a variety of concerts which begin at 7 p.m. and movies which begin at dusk or 8:30 p.m.
The Town of Matthews has officially asked the Mecklenburg County Air Quality Division to require Biomedical Waste, Inc. to adhere to the new federal air quality standards within three years instead of the proposed five years.
