For Immediate Release Date: June 30, 2010 Contact: Jen Thompson, (704) 347-6618 NCDOT TO IMPROVE INTERSECTIONS OF N.C. 51 AT FULLWOOD LANE AND MONROE ROAD IN MECKLENBURG COUNTY CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will put funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to work to improve the intersections of N.C. 51 (Pineville-Matthews Road) at Fullwood Lane and Monroe Road in Matthews beginning Monday, July 12, weather permitting. The $225,000 contract was awarded to McCollum and Associates Paving Inc. of Midland for grading, widening, paving and installing pavement markers at both intersections, in addition to lengthening left turn lanes from N.C. 51 to Fullwood Lane and to Monroe Road. The completion date is August 27. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
