Volunteer Recruitment a Success for the Matthews Branch Library!

July 28, 2010 (Charlotte, N.C.) – The Matthews Branch of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library has succeeded in attracting scores of applications the past month in order to bolster the volunteer team at the library. Applications are currently being screened and interviews scheduled with prospective volunteers. New library volunteers will begin training in the coming weeks and be requested to attend a mandatory orientation session on either Monday, August 16 from 4-6 p.m. or on Thursday, August 19 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The Matthews Branch Library will forward remaining volunteer applications and incoming applicants for the immediate future to applicants' second choices for branch placement. Interested parties, age 14 and older, may still apply to volunteer online through the public library’s website - www.cmlibrary.org/volunteer or in person at any branch of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library greatly values library volunteers as their contributions in time total more than twenty five thousand hours of service each year at a market value of a half million dollars. The Matthews Branch Library staff could not provide such a high level of service to the community without the support and dedication of our wonderful team of library volunteers.
