From 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, area churches will participate in the annual Matthews Alive Community Choir Sing. The event will be held on the Main Stage located in Stumptown Park.
Churches, participating this year in the event, are: Mt. Moriah, Abundant Life, Carmel Baptist Church, Christ Covenant Church, Graceway Church and Matthews Presbyterian Church.
The evening’s festivities will begin remarks by Matthews Mayor Jim Taylor and former Matthews Mayor Lee Myers who will focus on the role of volunteers in our community and what they achieve everyday in our Town.
This year’s Matthews Alive theme is Volunteer Matthews. Even in the festival’s 18th year, most people still do not realize that the overall mission of the Matthews Alive Festival is to give back to the local community by way of supporting non-profit groups from around our area that volunteer at Matthews Alive. Over the past 18 years the Matthews Alive Festival has contributed over $750,000 to the local community.
