Matthews Alive Inc. is hosting a Gingerbread House Contest in conjunction with the Town of Matthews’ Hometown Holidays Celebration.
The contest is open to everyone. There are three categories: children, adults, and groups. The “house” can be any imaginative dwelling and must be made with edible materials. Your entry must be dropped off by December 1st at the Matthews Library if you are entering the adult or children categories. If you are entering the group category please drop off your entry at the Matthews Chamber of Commerce by December 1st.
Houses will be judged at the chamber of commerce and the library on Dec 4th before the Hometown Holidays festivities begin at 3 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category. The first place winner will receive $75; second place $50; and third place $25.
Entry forms are available at the Mathews Community Center, the Matthews Public Library, and the Matthews Chamber of Commerce. Entry form, contest rules and procedures.
There will also be a raffle for a gingerbread house that has been created by Johnson and Wales University students.
