The Town of Matthews is proud to announce the official grand opening of the Matthews Four Mile Creek Greenway. The public is invited to attend this event which will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
A short dedication ceremony will be held at 10 am at the Old Public Works facility located less than a quarter mile from the greenway entrance directly off Trade Street. Immediately following the ceremony, there will be interactive activities and entertainment along the greenway for the entire family to enjoy.
Additionally, a bicycle safety rodeo for children will be held by Matthews Police Officers, in the parking lot behind Matthews Elementary School.
Parking will be available at the Matthews Community Center. Neighborhood entrances to access the greenway are located at Brenham Lane, Woody Creek Rd., Privette Street, Rockwell View Drive and East John Street.
The greenway is a $1.6M joint project between the Town of Matthews and Mecklenburg County. Trail A is from East John St. to Brenham Lane and Trail B is from S. Trade Street to Squirrel Lake Park. Trail A and B are a combined two miles in length.
