Join us for The Matthews Summer Concert & Movie Series. The movies and concerts are free and held in Stumptown Park. The series includes a variety of concerts which begin at 7 p.m. and movies which begin at dusk or 8:30 p.m. Rain or shine.
Movie and concert-goers are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets and vendors will sell food and drinks. The series is sponsored by the Matthews Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resource Department, Carolinas Medical Center- Matthews, 107.9 The Link, Windstream and the Arts and Science Council.
No pets or alcohol allowed.
The schedule is:
• May 21 – “Despicable Me” Movie – PG
(Celebrate National Turtle Day before the movie: Cold Blooded Encounters, McDowell Nature Center, Animal Rescue Center & Walk in the Woods – all of these groups will have lots of species of turtles to see, a turtle craft for you to do, information, and much more.)
• May 28 – The Stranger – Billy Joel Tribute Band
• June 4th – Back to the Future - Movie - Rated PG
(Pre-Movie Activities: Matthews Playhouse performs excerpt from Sound of Music)
• June 10th - Special Friday Performance by Charlotte Symphony
• June 18th - “Megamind” Movie - Rated PG
(Pre-Movie Activities: Matthews Playhouse performs excerpt from 101 Dalmatians)
• June 25th- Livehouse - Top 40 Variety Band
• July 2nd - Too Much Sylvia - Party/Variety Band
