Get Your Green On at Wipe Out Waste Day 2011

‘GET YOUR GREEN ON’ AT WIPE OUT WASTE DAY 2011
 

Want to help make our community a “greener” place? Mecklenburg County Solid Waste has issued a call for volunteers for the annual Wipe Out Waste Day on Nov. 12, 2011.

All four Mecklenburg County Full Service Recycling Centers will be shredding household documents for no charge on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. until noon as part of America Recycles Day.

Volunteers are needed for 2.5- or 5-hour shifts at the Recycling Centers from 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.and/or 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Duties include greeting customers; directing traffic to paper shredding stations and answering questions about the event. Each volunteer will recieve an America Recycles Day t-shirt.

Document destruction specialists Shred-it, Pro-shred and Caraustar will be on hand -- along with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Huntersville Police Department -- to ensure that documents are disposed of safely and securely.
