The Town of Matthews Fire & EMS Department welcomes two new firefighters to its staff: William Davis and David Livarchuk.
William is a native of Syracuse New York. He graduated from Suny New Paltz where he received a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. He worked as a general contractor and in the graphic design business. After moving to North Carolina he was the owner of a general construction company. In 2009 he began volunteering as a firefighter in Waxhaw as a way to give back to the community. He completed both his Firefighter I and II certifications. He graduated from South Piedmont Community College’s EMT-B certification. He has been volunteering with the Matthews Fire & EMS Department for the last year. He and his wife, have one son, and live in Waxhaw.
David is a native of Albany, New York. He moved to Charlotte with his family when he was fourteen years old. A graduate of Porter Ridge High School he graduated top of his class at the Cleveland Community College Fire Academy with his Firefighter I, II and EMT-B certification. He is currently enrolled at UNCC with the goal of obtaining his Bachelor’s of Science with a Fire Safety Engineering Degree. He joined the Matthews Fire & EMS Department last year as a volunteer.
