Town Receives Positive Audit

The Town of Matthews has received a positive audit. Each year the Town is audited by an independent firm in order to ensure that all financial statements and accounts are in compliance with all laws and regulations. Once again the Town of Matthews was found to be on very firm financial footing.

The independent firm of Martin Starnes & Associates reported to the Matthews Town Board that the Town received an Unqualified Opinion. Unqualified is the highest form of opinion that an entity can receive for the quality of their finances. The Town was found to have no compliance problems and no questions about financial costs. Crystal Waddell with Martin Starnes & Associates also told Board Members that the Town has maintained a healthy financial footing during these difficult economic times. She praised members of the Town’s Finance Department for their efforts to ensure the financial systems of Matthews.
