Renovations are underway at the former Agriculture and Bradford Clinic Buildings which are facilities of the Town of Matthews.
The former Agriculture Building is located in front of the Matthews Community Center and will be utilized for additional programs and classes offered by the Town of Matthews Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resource Department. Renovations to the building will include up fitting the rooms on the first and second floors, the addition of restrooms and an elevator. The Agriculture Building was built in the 1920s as an extension of the old Matthews High School. In 2008 the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System transferred the building to the Town.
The Bradford Clinic will see the addition of restrooms to the rear of the building and a new roof. The restrooms will be used by visitors to Stumptown Park.
The renovation of the two facilities is expected to be completed this summer. Sam Tyson Builders of Monroe is the general contractor for the project which will cost $968,100.
