Two Town of Matthews employees have been promoted to serve in new positions.
David Brooks has been promoted to the position of Captain in the Fire & EMS Department. Brooks has an associate’s degree in Applied Science from Gaston College and is certified as a Firefighter II and Emergency Medical Technician.
A native of Gaston County his career in fire service began when Brooks served as a lieutenant with the Gaston County Volunteer Fire Department. He began working for the Town of Matthews in 2002. He also previously served as a member of the Mount Holly Fire and Rescue Department.
A member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church, he and his wife, Lynn, have two children, Wade, 19, and Carmen, 12.
Jay Camp has been promoted to the position of Senior Planner. Jay has worked as a Planner for the Town since 2006. Prior to that, he spent time working for non-profit, downtown business improvement districts in Charlotte and Raleigh in research and economic development roles.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a native of the Charlotte region. He lives in the Matthews area with his wife, Elizabeth, and daughters, Annabelle and Lily.
