The Matthews Summer Concert & Movie Series will begin on Saturday, May 8, in Stumptown Park with a screening of the movie “Up”. Attendance is free and the series will conclude on July 3 with a concert by Too Much Sylvia. The series includes a variety of concerts which begin at 7 p.m. and movies which begin at dusk or 8:30 p.m.
Movie and concert-goers are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets and vendors will sell food and drinks. The series is sponsored by the Matthews Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resource Department, Carolinas Medical Center- Matthews, 107.9 The Link, Verizon and the Arts and Science Council.

• May 8th “Up” Movie - Rated PG (Pre-Movie Activities: Troop 39 skits, crafts, & more) • May 15th The Trishas with Special Guest Peach League – Country Music Band • May 22nd “Where the Wild Things Are” Movie - Rated PG (Pre-Movie Activities: National Turtle Day exhibits) • May 29th Robin Rodgers – Blues Band • June 5th “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs” Movie - PG (Pre-Movie Activities: Matthews Playhouse skit w/ Aladdin craft) • June 11th, Special Friday Performance by Charlotte Symphony w/ Winthrop Jazz Voices • June 19th “Ghostbusters” Movie - Rated PG (Pre-Movie Activities: Slime Making w/ Discovery Place!) • June 26th U-Neek Flavor - R&B/Top 40 Band • July 3rd Too Much Sylvia - Variety Band
