Are you ready to enjoy the warm spring weather? Then come put your toes in the sand with us April 30 and May 1 at the second annual BeachFest Matthews at Stumptown Park in Downtown Matthews. As part of the two day festival we are bringing the beach, live beach music and the shag dance to you. There will also be rides to enjoy, sand volleyball to play, arts and crafts to create and sand sculpture to see at the festival. Join us to learn how to shag and enjoy the activities while listening to a concert by the Catalinas and the Tams who will perform April 30 between 6 to 10 p.m. and Band of Gold and the Legendary Drifters on May 1 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Stumptown Park. The Matthews Civitan Club will host the Sandy Feet 5K & Fun Run on May 1 at 9 and 10 a.m. respectively. Proceeds will be donated to local charities that support individuals with developmental disabilities and Special Olympics. Trade Street from the intersection of John to McDowell will close at 5:30 p.m. and reopen after festivities on April 30 and will be closed until approximately midnight on May 1.
