Over 180 runners participated in the BeachFest Matthews - Sandy Feet 5K. This was the first time this event has been held.

The Matthews Civitan Club hosted the event. The 5K was a USA Track and Field certified course and The All the Right Grooves Band serenaded runners as they began their run.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics and other local charities who work to make the lives of people with developmental disabilities better.
In addition to the Matthews Civitan Club the run was sponsored by Knotts Builders, Chris Hobart Financial Planning, Carolinas Chiropractic Wellness Center, Elliott Davis, Clear View Eye Care Center, Diamond Springs and Harris Teeter.
