The primary functions of this department are maintenance and construction of sidewalks and streets (including street rights-of-way) by the Street Division, garbage pickup and recycling, street lights, parks maintenance, and stormwater construction and maintenance by the Storm Water Division. This department also houses Fleet Maintenance which maintains and repairs all Town vehicles and Building Maintenance that maintains the Town's facilities. 

The Public Works Director is Ralph Messera. Mr. Messera has served the Town since 1997. He can be reached at 704-847-3640 or e-mail. Design review and inspection of new streets, subdivisions and commercial developments are performed under the direction of the Town Engineer, C.J. O'Neill (e-mail).

The Public Works Department is located at 1600 Tank Town Rd. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM.
