The Town Manager is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serves as administrative head of Town government. The Town Manager is responsible for the operation of all Town departments and executes Board policy. In addition to the Manager’s duties of providing leadership, direction and guidance to all the departments, he is also responsible for preparing the annual operating budget for the Town. Hazen Blodgett has been the Town Manager for Matthews since 2003. Previously he served as the City Manager for Whiteville for 5 years and worked in various capacities in city/county government for a total of 13 years. Mr. Blodgett has a B.A. from Louisiana State University and a Master in Public Administration from Chapel Hill.  Married with four children, he enjoys bicycling and reading in his “spare” time.
