Kress Query has served as Commissioner on the Matthews Town Council from December 1993 to the present, with 4 years as Mayor Pro-tem. He also served as Mayor Pro-tem in 1969 and Mayor of Matthews from 1969 - 1974.  Other Civic involvement includes President of the Matthews Volunteer Fire Department, past President of Matthews Elementary PTA, and past President and Charter member of the Matthews Historical Foundation. Past President of Matthews United Methodist Kindergarten (15 years) and served on the board of directors for Happy Times Club.

Commissioner Query was born and raised in Matthews and graduated from Charlotte College (UNCC) with an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Married for 45 years, he has three children and three grand children. He is currently the corporate president of ESTUL Tool & Mfg. Co.
