Born April 19, 1951 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to Charles T. Myers, attorney and former Mecklenburg County Commissioner and Dottie Myers. Mayor Myers is married to Lucinda and the father of two grown children, Matthew and Amanda.
Mayor Myers graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1969. He received a B.A. from East Carolina University in 1973 and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1976. Mayor Myers has practiced law in Mecklenburg County from 1976 to the present. He currently practices with his son, Matthew Myers, forming the Myers Law Firm, PLLC.
Mayor Myers served on the Town Board of Commissioners from 1987 to 1991. He is currently serving his 9th term as the Mayor of the Town of Matthews, having first been elected in 1991. His current civic activities include serving on the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization from 1989 until the present, having served as chairman from 1997 to 2005. Mayor Myers has also been the Matthews representative to the Metropolitan Transit Commission since its formation.
Mayor Myers is a licensed pilot, instrument rated in both single and multi-engined aircraft. He enjoys off shore sailing, mountain bike riding, snow skiing, hiking, camping and flying.
