Nancy LaFond has lived in Matthews for 11 years. She has been active in Matthews politics, having served on the Mayoral Task Force on Education for four years and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee for four years, with her last two and half years served as Committee Chair. She is a current member of the Mecklenburg County Therapeutic Recreation Advisory Committee. In addition to that, she is a former committee chair of Cub Scout Pack 214 sponsored by Matthews United Methodist Church.

Matthews is facing several issues – the Small Area Plan, which has been on the table since prior to my joining the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, the Four Mile Creek Greenway, and the Sportsplex.
