Headline: Matthews Begins Transportation Improvement Project Today

MATTHEWS, NC - The Town of Matthews will begin a Transportation Improvement Project in the Country Place and Pine Forest Subdivisions today. The Town has hired Blythe Construction Company to patch, repave and reclaim the streets in these neighborhoods. The roads have been thoroughly inspected and were in need of repair. The Matthews Town Council approved funding this project at a cost of $625,000.

The project is expected to be completed by April 22nd – weather permitting. Work will occur during daylight hours, Monday thru Friday. One lane of traffic will be maintained on all streets at all times.

Due to water restrictions and because the street work will cause dust, the Town will provide each household with 2 vouchers for a free carwash at Auto Bell Car Wash. Homeowners are asked to use these vouchers once the project is completed.

“We want this project to not be disruptive, however, a paving project can be dusty and it does take time. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience but know that the neighborhoods will enjoy the new roads once they are finished,” said Hazen Blodgett, Matthews Town Manager.

Homeowners are asked to not park on roadways during this time. Garbage pickup and mail delivery will not be affected.
