The Public Works Department is located at 1600 Tank Town Road. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Public Works Director is Ralph Messera. Mr. Messera has served the Town since 1997. He can be reached at 704-847-3640 or e-mail.
The primary functions of this department are maintenance and construction of sidewalks, road and roadway maintenance (including street rights-of-way), street lights, parks maintenance, storm water and animal control. This department also houses the garage which maintains and repairs all Town vehicles. Traffic studies, inspection of new streets, subdivisions and commercial construction are performed under the direction of the Town Engineer C.J. O’Neill (e-mail).
The Storm Water Division installs pipe, maintains and repairs storm drains. Under the supervision of the engineer they locate and map the storm drainage system with the G.P.S. system.
Animal Control Division assists the public with abandoned or dangerous animals, nuisance complaints, etc. and ensures that all dogs and cats have their current rabies shots. A Town tag, which may be purchased on line, is required for each pet.
