Animal Control In order to obtain an animal license, you must have current proof of valid inoculation for each pet to be licensed. You must also bring proof from a licensed veterinarian of sterilization on each animal. Licenses may be obtained at Town Hall between 9:00 a. m. and 5:00 p. m. People who own four or more pets need to obtain a “Permit for Four or More Dogs or Cats”. Cost: $30 per year for fertile pets: $10 year for infertile pets: permit fees $25. Business License Anyone operating a business in Matthews must obtain a privilege license, available at Town Hall, 232 Matthews Station street. The cost of the Privilege License is based on the type of business. For more information call (704) 847-4411. Downloadable application form.

Driver’s License 3122 W. Independence Boulevard - 704-283-4264. You have 60 days after establishing residency in North Carolina to obtain a driver’s license. If applicants have a valid license from another state, they must pass a written test, vision test and sign recognition test. Drivers must be 15 to be eligible for a learner’s permit, after completing driver’s education. To obtain their licenses drivers must be 16 years old, have had their learner’s permit for one year and have a driver eligibility certificate from their school that says they are passing their classes. The fee to obtain a license is $20 to $50 depending on the type of license, and can be paid in cash or check if you have a North Carolina bank.

Matthews HELP Center 119 North Ames Street. A haven of assistance for anyone in need, Matthews HELP Center is funded by donations from businesses, churches, community organizations, and individuals, along with proceeds from the sale of donated items from the HELP Center Thrift Shop. Voter Registration You must be a North Carolina resident 30 days prior to an election and 18 years of age to vote. A Voter Registration form may be obtained at Town Hall, 232 Matthews Station Street or the Library, 230 Matthews Station Street. You will receive a voter registration card that will identify your district and polling place.
