MATTHEWS, NC: Today at approximately 9:21 am our communications received a call from a concerned citizen in reference to a suspicious person in the park lying on a bench. Upon Officer’s arrival they made contact with this subject, and spoke with him. After further investigation, it was found that this subject was in possession of marijuana, and was then placed under arrest. Officers observed that he fit the description of the suspect wanted in connection with the two recent Subway robberies on Matthews Station St. This subject who was identified as Mr. Jimar Maliq Slagle (DOB 12/02/1996), was then questioned by detectives and formally charged with the two recent robberies and transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail.

This is a prime example of how much we as law enforcement depend on and need assistance from the public to partner in the safety and protection of our community. We encourage the public to always call their local law enforcement agency when something just doesn’t seem right.
